ok the great debate Discuss away.
I think I am against F2P cash shops. seems end up paying more for sure if you didn't company's wouldn't be heading that way.
I can budget for a monthly fee but if I am haveing to put charges on credit card all the time for stuff have to have in game to play then I will get Wife agro out the butt.
Hell MMORPGs have killed pc-gameing as it is. I mean before the start of mmorpgs goodness I would by a couple games a month and once they came out people spent all there time on them and less buying solo games. And just go to a gamestop now where you used to have entire wall of pc games now you lucky if it is one shelf. (yes i know stuff going to Steam type markets etc. but damn you I am ranting)

So I was originally very against cash shops, havign played a lot of asian games that the only way to be any good in the game is you have to buy stuff from the cash shop. When Turbine came out with the cash Shop in DDO, I was a little leary of it, but then saw how they handled the cash shop. Nothing in there was overpowered (i.e. no blues or purples) and were a lot of atmosphere, as well as character classes and specific dungeon packs. For this I could handle some constraint and say, I really did not need to have a Dark elf or a monk, but could keep playing my Thief. And if I wanted to play in a dungeon with a group, then I would decide when and if I would join the group to go do that dungeon crawl.
I think the same will go for Lotro. You have access to most of the world up to where the expansions were, and if you have the expansions, you have access to it all. The cash shop should not be filled with "need to haves", but more things that are "like to haves". And I can decide when and if I was going to join in. i do think other cash shops that I have seen fall into what you were describing, and I hope that the newer games going forward do not get into that mentality, as I would hate to have to pay for every little thing, as the CC company would come over to my work, pull the card from my pocket and flamethrower it in my cube.
