Brandon Sanderson will complete A Memory of Light, and publish it in the Fall of 2009.

JordanCon is the first convention dedicated to exploring Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series and his rich, literary legacy.

When: April 17th- 19th, 2009
Where: The Embassy Suites in Alpharetta, Georgia. (just north of Atlanta)

Harriet McDougal is the wife of the late Jim Rigney, best known as “Robert Jordan” and the editor of her husband’s works. An accomplished poet, as well as editor, she has worked in publishing houses such as ACE and was the editor-in-chief at Tor Books. In late 2007, she hand picked Brandon Sanderson to complete the final volume in Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series.

There is arguably no bigger fan of Robert Jordan than Wilson Grooms. Wilson is a cousin of the late Jim Rigney. He typically describes himself as the “fourth of three” Rigney brothers. Wilson is known to fans of the The Wheel of Time as “that guy that updated RJ’s blog when he couldn’t”.

Brandon Sanderson writes epic fantasy books for Tor Books and children’s fantasy books for Scholastic Press. In 2007, it was announced that he would be completing Robert Jordan’s epic masterpiece, The Wheel Of Time. Brandon is a two-time Campbell award nominee; his books have been published in 14 languages. In October 2008, Brandon was on The New York Times bestseller list with The Hero of Ages, the final book in his Mistborn trilogy.

Looks like the final Wheel of Time book will now be in three parts... apparently there is no binding system that can hold all of the pages required to make it one volume.

http://www.dragonmount.com/Books/Memory_of_Light/

Memory of Light will be initially published as three seperate novels.

A Memory of Light, Part 1: The Gathering Storm
A Memory of Light, Part 2: Shifting Winds (Working title)
A Memory of Light, Part 3: Tarmon'Gaidon (Working title)

What's important to note is that these are NOT being written as three seperate books. A Memory of Light is being written as a single, massive novel, which, for various reasons, will initially be published over time in three segments. A complete "omnibus" edition of the entire novel will likely be published afterwards as a Collector's Edition.

When will it be published?
The first of the three parts, AMOL: The Gathering Storm will be published on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

Brandon Sanderson explained in his blog that the last book had to be split into three parts so the story could be published sooner and all plot lines finished up, the last book was published in 2005 so they wanted to be sure and get the next book out in 2009.

Tor announces The Gathering Storm, Book Twelve of Robert Jordan’s legendary Wheel of Time fantasy series
http://www.tor.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=blog&id=19734

The cover art is out there online now for the first of the last three books and they had to drop the title A Memory of Light because bookstores complained that the three book series with different subtitles would be too long for the computers and confusing for reorders, apparently bookstores have a big influence on publishing like that.

Universal Pictures acquired the movie rights to The Wheel of Time in August 2008, and currently plan to adapt The Eye of the World as the first movie.

Also JordanCon 2010 will take place April 23-25, 2010
JordanCon will be hosted by the Crowne Plaza Ravinia in Atlanta.

THE GATHERING STORM Release Events!

http://brandonsanderson.com/article/57/THE-GATHERING-STORM-Release-Events!
http://brandonsanderson.com/events

Quoted from Brandon Sanderson's blog:

All right, folks. Time to get this behemoth rolling. If you haven't noticed it by now, the events page on my website is new and snazzy. It auto-updates by removing items, and should—from now on—keep a constant list of where I'll be appearing next. We have the THE GATHERING STORM signing tour up there, but I want to do some explaining here for you. This will probably be a long post, and it will include a lot of different items. So if you're looking for the BYU Midnight Release or want to get a numbered copy from Sam Weller's by mail, scroll down.

...

I will add a final note that, by my request, Robert Jordan's signature is going to be printed on the title page of the book. It's not the same thing as having him sign the page, I know, but at least it's something. I didn't want my signature going in these books without something like that from him as well. (And let me apologize in advance for how sloppy my signature is.) Thank you all for reading, and I hope to see you at one of the tour events.

I just heard from a lit podcast I listen to that the release date has been moved up to Oct 28 from Nov 3. The move is due to the editing process being done 1 week faster than anticipated.

The Second book has been renamed Towers of Midnight...
The Third book will be A Memory of Light...

From Brandon Sanderson's blog post...

http://www.brandonsanderson.com/page/56/A-Memory-of-Light-Progress-Bar-FAQ

Originally, I intended this title to be a sub-title beneath the larger title of A MEMORY OF LIGHT. It was meant to be unobtrusive. Now, the books are each going to carry their own titles, and so Shifting Winds just doesn't work. This title has now changed to TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT. For an explanation, read this blog post. (The third book of the three will be given the title A MEMORY OF LIGHT.)

I anticipate TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT being around 300k words long. 1%, then, equals 3,000 words. (For reference, 300k words was about the length of EYE OF THE WORLD.)

Though I've got a large chunk of the book done already, it's going to be slow going because of the amount of revision I'm going to need to do. These sections are among the roughest I wrote last year, and I need to work on them a lot. I'm shooting for December as a goal to have the entire book completed.
